During this period, conditions remain favourable for episodes of elevated temperatures and the occurrence of Hot Spells. &#13;
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) defines a Hot Spell as a period of at least five consecutive days during which maximum temperatures meet or exceed 34.0 °C in Trinidad and 33.0 °C in Tobago. &#13;
For the remainder of September and into October 2026, there remains the potential for Hot Spell conditions. Over the coming weeks, maximum daytime temperatures are expected to reach around 34.0 °C or higher in Trinidad and around 33.0 °C or higher in Tobago, particularly during periods of reduced cloud cover and rainfall. &#13;
The hottest period of the day is generally between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. During this period, temperatures are expected to be higher in urban, built-up and densely developed areas, where the urban heat island effect can further increase daytime temperatures. Consequently, “feels-like” temperatures may range from approximately 34.0 °C to 44.0 °C, depending on the location, humidity, wind conditions and degree of urbanization. &#13;
The prevailing large-scale atmospheric and oceanic conditions are also expected to support periods of reduced rainfall and cloud development. El Niño-related influences, where applicable, can contribute to warmer and drier conditions by suppressing convection and reducing daytime cloud development. Reduced cloud cover allows greater solar heating of the land surface, resulting in higher daytime temperatures and, in combination with elevated humidity, increased heat stress. &#13;
Although rainfall events associated with tropical waves, the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), or other weather systems may occur during the remainder of the heat season, these events are not expected to provide a sustained break from the prevailing heat. Where rainfall occurs, it may provide temporary relief, with hot conditions potentially returning as cloud cover and rainfall decrease.</description><instruction>Continue taking precautions against heat exposure, particularly during the hottest hours of the day. Persons who are more vulnerable to heat, including older adults, young children, persons with certain underlying health conditions, outdoor workers and persons engaged in strenuous physical activity, should take additional care to remain hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat. Members of the public are encouraged to monitor official TTMS forecasts, Heat/Hot Spell Alerts and other weather information throughout September and October, as conditions can vary from day to day. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service remains the only official source of weather information for Trinidad and Tobago.</instruction><parameter><valueName>ColorRisk</valueName><value>#efe51c</value></parameter><area><areaDesc>Trinidad and Tobago</areaDesc><polygon>10.03453,-61.915669 10.100945,-61.887392 10.145929,-61.765582 10.178056,-61.6764 10.240159,-61.639422 10.250865,-61.454533 10.355767,-61.448007 10.458494,-61.491511 10.565465,-61.467584 10.640323,-61.587218 10.680952,-61.665524 10.742955,-61.561116 10.762194,-61.404504 10.828455,-61.302271 10.82418,-61.110856 10.82418,-60.925967 10.796395,-60.865062 10.708748,-60.941193 10.678814,-61.045601 10.586855,-60.997748 10.48417,-61.017324 10.394293,-61.021674 10.321517,-60.989047 10.145929,-61.002098 10.098803,-61.060828 10.083807,-61.278344 10.053813,-61.565466 10.062383,-61.715553 10.081665,-61.815611 10.03453,-61.915669</polygon><polygon>11.163805,-60.854186 11.219303,-60.756304 11.289729,-60.686698 11.326002,-60.623619 11.332402,-60.547488 11.29613,-60.521386 11.24278,-60.560539 11.206497,-60.62797 11.16594,-60.699749 11.150996,-60.780231 11.163805,-60.854186</polygon></area></info></alert>
